Description
An alternator is a vital component found in a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle, its primary function is to generate electricity to power the car’s electrical systems and recharge the 12-volt battery while the engine is running, since the all-electric Toyota bZ4X is powered by a high-voltage battery pack and electric motors, it does not require a conventional alternator, instead, it uses a DC-DC converter that draws power from the high-voltage battery and steps it down to the necessary 12 volts to charge the auxiliary battery and run the vehicle’s low-voltage accessories, such as the headlights, infotainment system, and power windows.
