Description
The Toyota Mirai is powered by an electric motor and a hydrogen fuel cell system, which replaces the conventional internal combustion engine. Because the Mirai runs on electricity generated from a chemical reaction (hydrogen and oxygen) rather than controlled explosions, it has no pistons, connecting rods, or a crankshaft. The motor directly converts electrical energy into rotational force to drive the wheels, which is a key characteristic of its zero-emission powertrain design.
